Mahale is well known as the home of chimpanzees. It has the highest numbers of wild chimpanzees than any other place in the world. It is also a home of other primates like red tailed monkeys, red colobus, yellow baboon, silver backed monkeys and others.
After seeing the chimpanzees in the morning, there are other options that guests can choose to do in the afternoon or evening hours and sometimes we suggest after knowing the interest of the guests. Fishing has been one of the activities that guests can do; a primate walk and elephant shrew walk are other walks that we do. During these walks we get to see what we didn’t see while tracking the chimpanzees. While searching for red colobus we can also see blue duikers, warthog and other animals. Walking from Greystoke while hiking the small hills and at the same times enjoying the beauty of the forest gives these walks more than what you expected. Sometimes we can aim to go for views from the mountains which gives spectacular views of the lakes and beyond, this will take you to another level of your stay at Greystoke.
